Coffin business flourishing

07/11/2011

Wilson Maposa, trainee reporter for Zicora Mobile Network in Masvingo, Zimbabwe (7 NOvember 2011) – Coffin making is becoming a huge business in Masvingo’s Mucheke home Industries in southern Zimbabwe, which is contrary to the traditional belief that people should not make money or profit from funeral services.

‘This has been necessitated by high cost of household furniture hence the low demand for such products. I need to survive so my experience in the industry showed me the need to shift from furniture to coffin making’, said Simon Mukaro one of the carpenters who is now making coffins.
