Surviving in harsh economic times

The closure of industries and factories in what used to be Zimbabwe’s industrial hub, Bulawayo has forced many skilled people to open home workshops in order to survive.

Zimbabwe is rated to now have the largest part of its workforce in the informal sector with an unemployment rate of over 80%.

However hope has not been lost for some people who has decided not to mourn over their situation but put their skills to use. Tatenda Gapare profiled one community carpenter Sibhekefeni Ntuli from Bulawayo’s Tshabalala suburb.
