Virginity testing is a process that some women in Zimbabwe go through on a monthly basis.

It is in some cases performed by the girls’ mothers, aunties, female church leaders or prospective husbands, to check for an intact hymen.

Surprisingly there are no laws in Zimbabwe that specifically prohibit such practices that are said to be humiliating and deprive women of their right to body ownership among other rights.
