Children in remote areas to miss free cleft lip surgery
Statistics show that one in every 800 children in Zimbabwe is born with cleft lip or palate deformities. Operation of Hope, a US charity, has performed corrective surgeries in Zimbabwe since 2006. This year, free cleft lip and palate surgeries are set for June 18-19, at Parirenyatwa Hospital. However, parents in some remote areas of Zimbabwe are not aware of this. Despite the advertising and dissemination of bulk sms messages in local languages, many families will miss out on this life-changing procedure. If you know of anyone who may benefit please share the information.
