ZISCO Steel is the largest steel company in Zimbabwe, located in Torwood, Redcliff.
It has the capacity to produce 1.2 million tonnes of steel per annum and employing 6000 workers.
However, over the past two decades the company has been facing numerous operating challenges.
This has led to the temporary closure of the company in February 2016.
The workers are on forced unpaid leave for six months. Prior to that, they have been inconsistently paid for approximately 8 years. Workers are in distress as they cannot meet the basic needs for their families.
