The municipality of Gwanda is in the process of giving ownership of Council houses to tenants, who have been occupying these houses for at least 15 years.

Among these occupants are women who inherited their occupancy from their parents.

Some of these women have however been denied the right to own these houses, hence their decision to come up with a committee to help them lobby and advocate for ownership of these houses.
