July 17th will go down Zimbabwe’s history as one of the worst day for Zimbabwe’s workforce. Almost 20 000 Zimbabwean workers lost their jobs in a space of 3 months after a Supreme Court judgement that gave permission to companies to dismiss workers without benefits after a three months notice. An outcry from the public and Labour Unions resulted in the government initiating a process to ammend the Labour Act. During the 2016 Workers Day Celebrations, Zimbabweans expressed their views on what they would have wanted included in the changes.
